Needing some inspiration for your Christmas party?

Wanting to look fabulous for the only ‘purebred’ in the office? Then take note of this seasons hair trends to wow your man this winter!

Hair trends1940’s full on glamour, add red lipstick to complete the look

  • 1960’s inspired beehive (possibly a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse)

  • ‘Power’ ponytail; make a statement with the classic ponytail.

  • Or simply just add some colour to spice things up! Loving Fearne Cotton’s hint of pink…maybe I should experiment with my winter coat?

Oh and one more tip get leathered in a leather skirt this season. It is a perfect transformation from desk to dance floor!

If any of you wonderful ladies would like assistance with any of these hair trends then don’t hesitate to book into one of our salons, where the team will be more than happy to give you a helping hand!

Ciao for now

Christmas is a coming...

I am super excited about Christmas already and I have even started writing my list for doggy Santa! An absolute must have for my poochy lips is this fabulous limited edition Swarovski studded Elizabeth Arden Cream Lip Protectant (£19).

All things glittery, silver and shimmery seem to be the trend for this winter’s Christmas season.

Little Mix from X Factor were bang on trend this week with their glittery disco make-up.

Do you think this would suit me?

I’ve definitely got an inner disco doggy diva! Hmm…off to find myself some sequin inspiration…

South Clerk Street gets a makeover…

I love a makeover; Clueless, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, Grease, Mean Girls-they're all my favourite films…and now it’s time for the ultimate makeover of all time. Our Medusa South Clerk Street salon is closed at the moment and oh my goodness you’re going to be impressed.

It has been ripped to shreds, torn apart and we’re starting again. I can’t reveal too much but our lovely director Claire is up to her eyelashes in Swarovski crystals, what are they being glued to? Well, you’ll just have to wait won’t you?

So if you’re looking for a VIP pamper day or some extra special Christmas gifts , pop into South Clerk Street and have a look around. It’ll re-open next week and boy there’s going to be a queue!

To be continued…

Medusa pick up Image of the Year 2011 at the Your Hair Awards

I know I've been a bit awol as of late but I have some fabulous news to share with you all, my daddy Colin won the Your Hair Image of the Year. Although he couldn't have done it without the help of the amazing NHF Inspire team, so a big paws up to everyone in the team as well. I'm so proud of him and all the team that were involved.

He's been very busy lately working with the NHF Inspire Team and some members of RUSH Hair so I hardly get to see him but all his hard work has paid of. Hopefully he'll spoil me this weekend to make up for being away so often, I'm certainly a pampered pooch!

I hope everyone has something exciting planned for this weekend? I'll be lying in the garden in the sun with mummy and daddy as long as the sun stays put – ah bliss!

PS Did you see the vids on Medusa Facebook from backstage at LFW! That Ryan is certainly a busy boy!

Behind the scenes....

Hi Medusa fans!

How are you all? Have you been enjoying the Fringe? I’ve seen my fair share of shows and enjoyed a tipple or two, it’s such a hectic few weeks I think I’ll need a detox afterwards!

But it’s not all play and no work…I was recently working hard backstage at a photoshoot with the Medusa Artistic Team. We were styling the hair for Quiz Clothing new ad campaign and A/W lookbook. I like to think I art directed the shoot – I made sure everyone was organised and gave them my top tips and trend advice. Check out the photos to see behind the scenes.

The style of the shoot was very glam (I always think a lady should be looking glamorous and always made up!) Lots of volume and tumbling waves, I chatted with the handsome Ryan from Medusa who gave me some insider secrets on achieving volume and body. He told me to tong hair then brush upside down and spray with some strong hold hairspray – this adds lift and body to the roots. But sssh – I didn’t reveal this model secret!

Have a fabulous weekend! I’ll be glued to Celebrity Big Brother in between cocktails.

Braids, Bloggers and Beautiful Nails.

Yesterday afternoon some of my favourite bloggers were invited along to Tigerlily in Edinburgh for an afternoon of preening and pampering. I'm a little jealous I couldn't tag along myself, apparently dogs aren't allowed in Tigerlily?!

Anyway the wonderful Medusa Team were there to make sure the girls looked fabulous.

The Medusa team hard at work.

The girls even got they're own cocktail masterclass.

And the end results looks yummy, strawberries are my favourite.

And if that wasn't enough the fabulous Medusa beauty team were on hand (no pun intended) to leave the girls with talons to DIE for. The amazing Zara Brodie created some nail art for one blogger, she had a mini anchor painted on her nails. Very cute but I think I'll stick with my usual pink!

My favourite look of the night was this side braid that Ryan created, the perfect summer hairstyle!

Festival fever...

So it’s that time of year again and all of those crazy campers are digging out their wellies and parkas and gearing up for T in the Park this weekend, (you would never catch me in the mud – it’s nothing but five star spas and luxury boutique hotels for this pampered pooch).

But I do admire those who travel up to Balado each year, especially those that do it in style! There is never any excuse for not sporting an on trend look, and I’ve been chatting with the lovely Medusa team to get the lowdown on what’s hot this year.

Beach waves

This isn’t new – every summer we see beach waves come out in some disguise but this year they’re super clean and worn in a centre parting for an edgy surfer look. I know by Sunday it’ll be difficult to have super clean hair, but pack lots of dry shampoo and sea salt spray and you’ll be fine. Daisy headbands are everywhere right now and look so cute teamed with waves.

Side braids

Once your hair starts to get a bit dirty and worse for wear, tie it into a side braid and secure with a little snag-free band. Keep this look messy and nobody need know there’s a possibility there are mice living in there.

Top knots

And if all else fails, pile up on top of your head, twist into a ballerina bun and secure. Chic, easy and very on trend.

Now don’t forget your nails – with all that mud, nails can become unsightly at festivals. The Shellac 14 day manicure is perfect for ensuring they stay chip free and manicured. I’m loving orange talons at the moment, so bright and flattering!

But most of all have fun!! And be safe!

PS pack lots and lots of baby wipes.

Sebastian CULT Team Tour

We started in Glasgow prepping hair from 2.30pm until 7.30pm and the show started at 8pm. It was such a nerve-racking experience but so exciting as well, once we began we didn’t have much time to think as everything was so rushed!

We had four models and twelve looks in total. In contrast to normal editorial and commercial shows, we didn’t use conventional model types. We had two heavily tattooed girls, a curvy girl and a older lady who was incredibly comfortable in her own skin which is amazing and so refreshing to see. We created some amazing styles as a team and had a great night in 29 Royal Exchange Square.

There was no time to party though…as soon as we finished the show at 10pm we were straight onto the coach for a six hour journey to Nottingham for another show. With a couple of hours sleep we started prepping for that show around 1pm then again show started at 8pm and finished at 10pm and we were straight back on the coach for a few hours to London then and completed another show. It was such a great experience and such good fun but a bit hard going. We had amazing feedback from people who came to watch which was amazing. Overall I had so much fun and would love to do it again (but maybe with a little bit more sleep this time.)
